Launch of Holcim-PRB's Summer Shipyard

Holcim-PRB's Imoca
The Holcim-PRB team worked in unison for two days at Port-La-Forêt, where their base camp is located. The IMOCA was taken out of the water to enter the shipyard for several weeks; a meticulously executed and always spectacular operation.
Holcim-PRB left the water yesterday and entered the hangar this morning, where it will be pampered by the team. This will be the final complete overhaul of Nicolas Lunven's monohull before the Vendée Globe.
Kemo Audern, the boat captain, knows the boat inside and out. He co-led the operations for lifting it out of the water and explains the objectives of this summer project: "We are going to completely dismantle everything: the entire hydraulic system, all the rigging, all the lines. This is an essential phase to check everything. If we find any defects or malfunctions, they will be repaired or even optimized before everything is fully reassembled. The repair of the bowsprit, which failed during the last two transatlantic races, is also already underway. We are remaking the entire piece while keeping the same shape since this part has already completed a circumnavigation without breaking. Therefore, there’s no reason to change it. Finally, we will also prepare everything for the installation of the new foils because the boat will be relaunched with these new appendages."
The team will thus be very busy until mid-August, which is currently marked on the calendar for relaunching the boat. Meanwhile, Nicolas Lunven will be assisting the team with the project and also taking some time with his family, as the autumn will be dedicated to the final preparations and last training sails before starting the round-the-world trip on November 10th.
