vendée Globe
An extreme challenge
To set off solo from Les Sables d’Olonne and return there, having left behind the three caps—Good Hope, Leeuwin, and Horn—without stopping and without assistance. The concept of the Vendée Globe is strikingly simple on paper, but in reality, the challenge is one of the most extreme.
Since its inception in 1989, 97 women and men have attempted it at least once, and 66 of them have managed to complete it according to the rules. This speaks volumes about why the Vendée Globe is known as the 'Everest of the Seas'! But it is not just the sporting aspect that makes the Vendée Globe successful. A theater of immense joys, inconsolable sorrows, good fortunes, and twists of fate, the race also fascinates with its ability to create exceptional human stories in each edition.
